    Connecting 10 round mags.....

    I was wondering if it would be legal to weld two standard metal magazines to eachother. This would be specifically for an AR 15 that is completely legal and registered, but i havent found anything saying that you cant connect two legal 10 round magazines to eachother because its just for ease of reloading.

    Welding seems excessive. They have products that can fasten magazines together OR you can always duct tape them... ?

      I don't think so.

      PC 12020c: (25) As used in this section, "large-capacity magazine" means any ammunition feeding device with the capacity to accept more than 10 rounds, but shall not be construed to include any of the following:

      * (A) A feeding device that has been permanently altered so that it cannot accommodate more than 10 rounds.
      * (B) A .22 caliber tube ammunition feeding device.
      * (C) A tubular magazine that is contained in a lever-action firearm.
      Any ammunition feeding device with the capacity to accept more than 10 rounds is the key part. When you weld the two mags together, they become one single device. It's debatable, though, that two mags attached via a non-permanent, removable clamp are legal.

      ETA: After rereading your post, I thought I might add: Off List Lower ARs are not registered. Also, neither Registered Assault Weapons or "featureless" builds are limited to 10 round magazines--only ARs with Bullet Buttons or other "fixed magazine" configurations. So, basically, if you have a registered assault weapon AR, as your post claims, you can use whatever capacity mags you want (assuming you acquired them prior to the 2000 ban). If you have an unregistered OLL AR, then you have to use 10 round mags to keep it legal.

        The 2 mags welded together or clamped together is just that... TWO separate magazines held together on the exterior. The magazine limit is per individual magazine, which is still 10 in this case.

        Until the law is changed again to say no 10 round mags can be linked in any way with another 10 round mag, even if the capacity of each mag doesn't change, I don't see how it's illegal.

          It's legal, but sometimes I just have to ask....Why? I was never a big fan of hooking two real mags together in the "old days" It's kind of silly to 'tacticool' 10 rounders.

            Doesn't that pretty much go for almost all civilian owned non-RAW M4gery or other evil rifles? How often do you see a KISS setup other than on an AK or SKS?

            Man, I see so many tricked out fixed magazine 10 shot AR and M1A rifles that I am really asking... What's the point? At the very basic level, you have a very high speed platform that is limited by the speed at which you can eject out the magazine with you bullet button tool and pop in another 10 rounder... Whoop de doo!

              I believe "the right people" have said that permanently connecting two 10 round magazines is indeed the manufacture of a feeding device with the capacity to accept more than 10 rounds.
              The clamps are okay.

                I wouldn't want to be the test case there. Welding makes it one device where two clamped together are just that, two clamped together.

                Even funnier when the wing is attached backwards or adjusted improperly and would actually cause lift at any speed that the wing becomes functional.

                  I love spoilers on anything that normally would have a child seat in the back. How many spoilers have you seen on the low-end model Camry, Civic, Accord, or any of the cheapie 4 clyinder 120hp sedans? Yeah, we need all the downforce we can get on the rear tire of that 120hp front wheel drive beast!

                    BWAHAAHAAA! Reminds me of a delta bravo I used to know. His fart-can had tranny problems, unless someone else was driving, he raced everyone and only won when the opponent didn't know they were racing and had a ridiculous wing on the back of his front wheel drive civic hatchback.
