    Camera Ticket Question, Glendale, CA

Well I was just getting off a 12 hr shift with a VIP client (EP Work) in Beverly Hills and needed to stop by the office in Glendale. I ended up taking the Colorado exit off the 5 N. Well long story short there is a red light camera on Colorado and S. Pacific Ave. and I ended up doing a rolling stop and took that right onto Pacific ave, the lights flashed and I cursed myself for being lazy. Well the ticket finally came in the mail the other day and I was blown away almost $500 dollars!!! Im wondering if i am crazy or thats just a bit over the top.....What should I do, just pay the fine/traffic court?

    Thanks for your help.

My father had to pay $480 for his red light ticket in Los Angeles. He just paid it, because you will lose in court on the red light ticket for sure.

Here's what you can do. I'm assuming that the ticket was assigned to the Glendale court. If you live in the city of Los Angeles, you have the right to have the ticket assigned to county seat (LA) in the county in which it is written under 40502 (b) VC. Go to the court at the assigned time and assert that since this is the first opportunity you have had to assert your rights under 40502 (b), you are asserting them now and want the case assigned to a court in the City of Los Angeles. Once the case has been moved, it's guaranteed that the city won't show up, so you just show up and you win.

Copy, this is a first for me so I have no experience. So when showing up to my assigned date whenever it will be, I just tell them to have the ticket assigned to a county seat (LA) via 40502 (B) VC.? and why would they not show because of the resources incurred? Also I am at lasuperiorcourt.org and when I select the assign a court date the earliest in 11/18/2011 at 1330 should I just reserve this date? and will it hurt my record?

To answer your questions: You should have the court date and time on the copy of the ticket that they just mailed you. You show up and tell them that you are a resident of the City of LA and you want the case assigned there under 40502 (b). You don't get to pick the time and date of the court date in LA, they will assign that to you when it gets transferred. They (Glendale) won't show up because red light tickets aren't an enforcement issue, they're a money-making issue. It will cost them way more to have an officer show up with all the required equipment than they will make off your ticket.

Then i will select court date reservation- no preference and get this screen

Honestly I am on shift right now and do not have the mailed ticket. Im just wondering if this is legit or one of those snitch tickets

You could try and fight it and hope the officer doesn't bring in the evidence to court. Otherwise you are pretty much nailed since there will be a high definition video of you rolling the stop.

So show up on 4/11 and ask to have the case moved. Or, if you can't make the 11th, ask for the extension to 6/10 online. You don't want to wait around till November.
