CA DMV driving permit valid out of state?

I'm off going to Texas next week to visit my grandparents, and when I'm out there I was wondering if I could drive legally using my CA permit. There would be a CA driver in the car that is over the age of 25, and I have all the drivers training signatures on the permit. Am I alright to drive with it in Texas?

they may not honor it because it's only a permit, and it's from out-of-state
