lol give it a rest guys. You are arguing with people that are just doing their job. You really think that LEO's want to give these crap tickets out? Maybe if you're being a douche but for the most part they're just doing their 9-5 and doing what the state tells them. To be honest, we shouldnt have LEO's cutting us some slack but really take it up with the state laws. I talked to my father in law last night about this who is a retired LEO of 30 years and he said there's alot of BS laws that he had to follow but didn't fully agree with. This one being very very far down the list.

I have no faith in us changing this law though...Unless skin cancer rates quadruple.

As far as cops using illegal window tint as a "pretext" for traffic stops, I'm all for that.

Drivers who are willing to break one law are often willing to break others as well. Window tinting is an indicator, or predictor, of other illegal behaviors. Not always, but often enough that it makes sense to pull them over and check 'em out.

    Taking just the pertinent parts...

So for us to improve our image and make you like us, we have to let you decide which laws you don't want us to enforce on you. Kinda like our foreign policy, we'll give you money as long as you say you like us, even if you really don't.

As for writing your legislator, whether or not it does any good is irrelevant. It is the proper process to address your concerns. If they are unresponsive, that's on them for ignoring their constituents. That still does not excuse you breaking the law or giving the LEO who is enforcing the law any grief. In the end, it's still the law even if you think it's lame.

I'm sure there are lots of laws we all disagree with but that does not give us the right to break it. If you do break it, then you take the chance you will be caught and prosecuted for it, even if if is as trivial as the tint law.

Yes I fully understand that you think real crimes do not happen all the time but they do you guys just may not see or know of them. And enforcing a bogus law that has no effect and anything other than you writing a revenue generating ticket for someone that has window tint is lame. Now like i said before I do not agree with someone going extremely dark on the side windows but a light tint like on the mustang above is harmless to anyone and you can see right in with it. And as long as I am obeying all other laws and traffic rules I think a little leeway would go along way to helping the LEO's image within the community.

I come from a long line of Police Officers in my family so I know how hard the job is and thank all of you for the service you give but the tint law is bogus.

Someone said write the congressmen/assemblyman that is actually comical do you really think that does any of us any good?

And yes I do call and write them already but as you can see it has done none of us any good.

You gotta go with the black and white tactical version, didn't you?

Are you worthy of the STARS patch?

How's FTO going? Did you lose a lot of weight? I know I did.

And while I understand that pulling someone over for tint may sometimes lead to something better. Just because someone has tint does not make them a bad guy. I just think you as LEO have bigger things you need to be worrying about.

I really do not care about light tints or other CS stuff unless the driver makes me care. How's that?

Yeah I hear you loud and clear on the Harley pipes. Personally I have no issue with it but i have heard some and thought dam is that loud. Makes my Mustang sounds like a Honda.

And like I said in a previous post as well, Not all but as in anything there are bad apples within everything.

I moved from Southern California to northern California and was immediately stopped for tinted door glass.
I removed the tint and went to the CHP to have it inspected. Funny the CHP officer that stopped me was just transferred from Southern CA.
I understand following the law and I wish LEO understood how hard that is. You go to class and study the different laws and receive updates and legal briefs on the law daily. Us old wore out citizens have to hope we read in the paper or see on TV a change in the law or we don't know we are being criminals.
I would guess if I brought you to my place and tested you on the laws applicable to ranching or farming you might have a little trouble knowing if you violated a law or not. If you have 10 knot winds and you notified the AG department you were going to spray today what is the maximum speed of the tractor allowed with the tip nozzle you have installed?
If I willfully violate a law get your bad attitude on and proceed. If it is some obscure law to meet PC for a stop be pleasant and act like a human being. Rest assured I will see you in a ditch needing a pull in a snow storm or I will have the tractor you need to mow the easement you just got a ticket on from the Cal Fire for weeds. Or the herbacide to controll that invasive weed that you were cited for. Or the ranch that buys your kids entry in the fair for three times the meat value.
We are honest hard working people out here just like you in blue.

I would like to see some vehicles cited for their car alarms going off all the time. There was a guy on my block who's car alarm used to go off every time I drove my truck by, it wasn't a super lout exhaust, it was all CA legal.

Some people choose to have their alarms go off when there is a slight breeze, and it is just noise pollution.
