Agencies are filling vacancies from retirements and terminations. Many agencies also received federal grant money to staff patrol operations. There really are very few NEW positions. Sacramento County Sheriff does not even run an academy anymore!Comment

lots of reserve positions...but its a good foot in the door and a lot of agencies like to hire straight out of their reserve pool... I'm processing now for a reserve spot..Kevin

Think of it this way, the process can take up to a year and a half to complete and it's not going to take anything away from your school work unless you are offered a position. And if you're like me I dont think you would have a problem dropping from school if offered a career.Comment
