Two registration tickets in the same month

I just got 2nd ticket for expired registration the first ticket I got is not even do yet and I showed the second cop the first ticket he still wrote me a second one and told me im lucky he doesnt tow my car for 30 days and when I asked him about it he said I dont know just fix it!

my question is does any one here know the actual time frame a person is given before a second violation can be written for the same thing. (is the judge just going to excuse it?)

There's no time frame. The first cop should have told you: Park it on private property and don't drive it until it's registered. Period.

Judges love to drum-up city revenue and I doubt they'll drop the second coupon. The first ticket was not a "pass" to continue driving that car until you could get it registered.

My advice? When you go to court, do not argue the reason for the citations, who issued/when issued...etc. Plead-out and politely ask for a reduction in the fines as the recession is killing all of us anyway, right?

Judges appreciate it when someone can "sack-up" and accept culpability/responsibility.

If you're current (yet not displayed) pay the $18 for reissued tags and be done with it. Otherwise, you'll continue getting pulled over and possibly written-up again. Additionally, if your tags were actually stolen, file a crime report, obtain a copy, but get new tags issued.

Tags are serialized and can be traced, but it's easier to deal with after they're listed stolen and we find then on some other persons car.

Should make it priority to get that taken care of. Expired tags raise quite a few eye brows. ASAP!

Since they are both fix it tickets...

                A) Register the car
                B) get both signed off at the same time
                C) Provide both proofs of correction to the court, have both charges dropped.

And a registration ticket is not a free pass to keep driving an unregistered vehicle. You could get cited every day for the registration.

And if your registration is expired over 6 months, then yes your car can be impound regardless if you have been cited before or not.

Nope. Every time your car is on the road it is a violation. He could have also cited you for the not having current tags displayed section, which is a separate violation than can be cited even if you have current reg (but don't have the tags on the car).

It's just a fix it ticket... which means the fine doesn't even come close to recouping the cost of even issuing the ticket.

If you are a AAA member, you can use the limited DMV services there without the long wait times.

It's worth joining AAA just to avoid the hassle of DMV. Plus, you get a lot of great services from them.

It is my understanding that 5204(a) is a fix it but 4000(a)(1) is not...
