    LAFD LODD

It's sad to hear the passing of Los Angeles Firefighter Glenn Allen. He was a 38 year veteran of the LAFD and died from complications after having a roof collapse on top of him with three other Firefighters, during a structure fire in Hollywood. In these times of bashing Firefighters and Police Officers I hope the public can understand the risks those of us in public safety take and can say a prayer for Firefighter Allen's family.

He's a true hero. Anyone running into burning buildings at the age of 61 is a badass. I hope the family can take some small condolence from the fact he was doing what he loved with the people he loved.

38 years and still out there in the thick of it with his company... that's a genuine hero there. He didn't short time his last year until retirement.

Prayers and Godspeed to him, his family, friends, and the good people of LAFD.

Very much a hero. A lifetime of dedication to helping others culminated by the ultimate sacrifice. The world is lesser for his absence but he is an inspiration.

Copied via facebook from a friend who is LA Fire: "Remember our fallen brother who will never meet his grandson and never collect a well earned pension!"

Once again, thoughts and prayers out to his family, friends and co-workers.

38 years on the job and he died up front, in the fire doing what he loved.
I am willing to bet he could have been in the rear with the gear.
                              He wasn't...

That my friends is a commitment.

                              RIP Sir.
