I doubt it. I don't really feel like looking it up right now but I don't think the law mentions any certain length.

ETA- Just noticed this was in the LEO forum. I'm not a cop or anything but I'm pretty sure collapsible batons aren't legal.

That is a baton and would require LE or Guard w/baton cert to possess.

        Not legal. Don't do it!

12020. (a) Any person in this state who does any of the following is punishable by imprisonment in a county jail not exceeding one year or in the state prison:
        (1) Manufactures or causes to be manufactured, imports into the state, keeps for sale, or offers or exposes for sale, or who gives, lends, or possesses......................................... .....................or any instrument or weapon of the kind commonly known as a blackjack, slungshot, billy, sandclub, sap, or sandbag.

You'd get booked for the 12020 PC. Not cited as a misdemeanor per 17(b)(4) PC either....booked for the felony. Avoid it. Get yourself a defensive "pen" if you need one.

Yeah. I have been here for over 2 decades and the stupidity never ceases to amaze me.

Back home I could walk out my front door with rifle/pistol/bow&arrow whatever I wanted... Go to my make shift shooting range and shoot all day long.

And to read this about a metal "stick" is just sickening. The same comment about nunchuka as well. I trained with those for MANY years and recently found out those are illegal in Commifornia as well.

Nunchakus, throwing stars, brass knuckles, plastic knuckles, gravity knives, butterfly knives... all assorted prohibited weapons which are felonies... carry your folding knife inside your pocket with nothing showing, felony, carry it in pocket with the clip exposed, legal, strap a 12" bowie knife to your leg, legal, but you carry a loaded gun concealed... misdemeanor.
