Neighborhood Drug Lab - Need help

I'm hoping I can get some insight. Last year I posted about a weird smell in the neighborhood. It's a sickly sweet, but very intense CHEMICAL smell. It burns the eyes and you can feel it in the back of your throat/glands area. It's not pot, it's not innocuous or naturally occurring.

Last year I had suspicions, but little facts. The incidents lasted for 6 months, then stopped for 6 months. It started again in November with increasing frequency. The last few weeks it has been for 5-8 hours DAILY. It's been after dark, from 5pm til 10 or 12.

I have noticed a pattern. Neighbor's bathroom light goes on...smell starts about 20 minutes later. That light stays on the entire time the smell is out there (5-8 hrs). Light out...no smell. They also have a fan that can be heard running during this time. This has held true since I noticed it back in December.

So what can I do? I don't know exactly what they're "cooking," but it's unhealthy to breathe and makes everyone who smells it want to run inside ASAP.

I need some advice as to how to get Law Enforcement involved. Do I just call 911 and report toxic fumes coming from that residence? But I'm afraid the FD will roll up, knock on the door and the neighbor will say, "everything's fine, go away."

I'm really at a loss.

To compound matters, I believe they're affiliated with a local gang, so I'm not wild about putting my family in danger due to reprisals.

do they have kids? because if they do you can call in anonymously to CPS about kids crying, screaming and coughing from the hours described in op (only if they do...)

or you can call the fire department about the "smoke" and smell of something burning

Seems like reason enough, if it was me I think I would just call it in anonymously every single time they do it right when they start until someone checks it out.

Unfortunately, I tried that last year. I talked on the phone and was given an email address and I proceeded to send logs of times, duration and vehicles present, for months.

No real response from the detective after the first contact. Nothing. Freakin' information black hole.

if your local pd appears not to be doing anything contact the dea and file reports with them.

You should insist on narcotics officers. Some counties have special interagency drug teams which do nothing but go after "white" dope. You usually cannot speak with them directly but call your Sheriff's office and see if you have one. The problem with calling standard patrol officers is they usually do not have the necessary training and experience to connect the strange smell to a possible lab. In order for forcible entry to be made to the house (they are not going to let a knock and talk inside) the investigating officer needs to be able to articulate their probably cause to believe a lab exists inside the house (read search warrant). Narcotics officers will also be more up to date on case law and whether they can clear the house prior to a warrant if a public safety hazard exists. If your beat officer is not cooperating, be the squeaky wheel and ask to speak with a watch commander. From what little information you have given, our white dope guys would be all over it.

Maybe the County Air pollution Control Board or City code enforcement.If you get any documentation from them,then bring it to LE.

It's worth a try I guess.

Who is the victim?

If its a meth lab and the place goes boom a lot of victims. I am shocked the cops dont roll out, seems like enough probable cause to me if they smell it when they drive up.
