    Surfire E2D Light

I was talking to a friend yesterday and he was showing a new Surefire light he just bought. I said it was nice but I really liked me E2D.

He told me he liked it too but was told if you hit someone with it it's assault with a deadly weapon?

Is this a true statement? If so I may have to leave it at home...

If you shove a banana into someone's eye socket you can be charged with ADW. It's a damn flash light, you're obviously not going to repeatedly beat someone over the head with it if they stare at your girlfriend right?

I'm assuming the answer is no.... then carry the damn thing if you want.

Good ol' blind n' beat tactics!

The "Strike" part is more useful for breaking glass. As far as self defense purposes, if you're good with wrist locks, it can assist in applying leverage with pressure.

But you can be charged with Aggravated Assault or ADW if you're beating the life out of someone with any object. Like the banana example above. Use common sense.

If you hit anyone with anything when you are not afraid for your life or great bodily injury it can be ADW. The only time I would ever hit someone with my E2D is if I didn't have my Glock with me or the level of force wasn't necessary to shoot them. Now the odds of me ever feeling the need to smash someone with my E2D instead of calling the cops and observing are slim to none. The only other good thing about the E2D is it can go many places handguns are frowned upon.

In reading what I wrote I did not state it very well. I was talking self defense rather than attacking someone.

If I had or could get a CCW I would use my Glock too.
