Question about open shooting

Even at Azusa... Burro Canyon... when we rent the private ranges out back, it was not uncommon to see (and hear) folks of a questionable nature blasting guns which sounded awfully like full-auto and seeing them walk around peeping at your site to see what you are doing.

Thankfully, we always go in a large enough group and we are mostly LEO and military... so we keep a situation awareness. I leave packing my sidearm the same way I arrived. My non-LEO buddies will caravan and they will drive all the way to the main road before they put everything in the trunk.

I have been to Burro Canyon, and its decent for a regulated range, but I still prefer the unregulated areas. Pigeon Ridge on Azusa was the unregulated range that was just north bound of the East Fork. It was shut down due to some riff-raff. Whenever i see people that I think are questionable, I just try to keep an awareness of everything going on so that I will not be caught by surprise should something happen.

Has anyone seen any threads floating around on unregulated areas? I have tried various search configurations, but have found nothing. Or maybe I should start a thread in a different section.

This is bad advice. BLM only covers BLM Land.

If you are in a city, the PD would be able to enfore any and all laws pertaining to the area. In the county, it is the Sheriff.

As someone else posted, check with the LEA that has jurisdiction over the area you want to shoot. The Palmdale/Lancaster area is patrolled by LA County Sheriff and they do patrol remote areas.

I assumed he meant open as in BLM land. And that is exactly why I talk to the BLM office of the region I am in.

I personally only shoot on BLM land for safety and privacy.
