Illegal aliens kill a dozen Americans a day. The cartels are running the show and people think the only war we're in is in the Middle East. We lose more lives at home and cop killers are being trained daily in Mexico, many are in their teens.

My prayer for 2011 is to add no more names to the National Law Enforcement Officer's Memorial. I know too many of the names on it, several of them were guys I worked very closely with.

Fewer officers on the streets, combined with less resources for training and support services, combined with an increasingly desperate citizenry spells very bad news for police officers. My prayers are with you.

If a cop killer has nothing to worry about by killing a Police Officer, this will continue. Gang leaders sitting there in Pelican Bay planning who they want dead including Officers is plain crap. 1st thing we need to do in California is install conveyor belt to the death chamber and stop spending money on these animals. Stop any and all monetary law suits filed on behalf of of convicted felons. If they get life in prison, no more programs, give them only the basics. Stop all visitation, no tv anything except an eye hook screwed into the ceiling of their cell with a hanging rope so they can have a choice of living like that.

I was a paramedic up in Del Norte County, CA. for a short while before I got my position down here. I would pick up prisoners with serious medical conditions from Pelican Bay and take them to the local hospital. In those first years of the prison, two armed officers with me in the ambulance, and 3 - 4 in a car following behind us, packing to the max. Funny thing was, none of the officers ever trained me what to do if SHTF. I am guessing I would have been collateral damage. Pelican Bay is a world class crime training ground for the inmates.

They will just say their chest hurts and they cannot breath which will give them a couple day stay in the nearest hospital to watch tv.

The article makes it sound more dramatic than it is. If you look at the underlying statistics, 2009 was unusually low so the increases seem dramatic compared to 2009. However, they are pretty consistent with the long term trend. More here: http://www.nleomf.org/facts/research-bulletins/

Coppers are also afraid of the civilian review boards and witch hunts like we see on this board sometimes. Soooo they hesitate when they shouldn't more than they would have if not for the persacution of people just trying to hold back a tide of fecal matter. If 2 innocent men get trodden on for every 50 convicted so be it. If it happens to be me /shrug oh well life isn't fair sometimes so be it. For the greater good comrade ...

And, FWIW, 2010 is still well below the figure from 2007. Like everything else there are cycles. All we as a group can do is to stay hard, stay aware and stay safe.

We also need to remember that we are still losing more of our brothers and sisters each year to vehicles; collisions, pursuits and hit by vehicles, than are lost to felons with weapons.
