So Ive been working on a paper for a class of mine and in the process of looking up some sources I ran across some quotes from Lt. Col. Grossman author of "On Combat." I had totally forgotten that I was lucky enough to see him give a speech at my dads retirement dinner a few years ago. I have to say, for all my professors ive had to sit threw, and all these so-called "inspirational speakers" ive had the unfortunate opportunity to be forced to listen too, he was hands down the most truthful and inspiring. I just wanted to say thank you LEO's for your work.

I got approved to see him speak on works dime this year.....Only they approved it 2 days after he was done.

LTC Grossman was my platoon operations instructor in Army ROTC Advanced Camp. With the exception of Charlton Heston, I do not believe I have ever been in the presence of a more engaging and dynamic speaker. His books are thought provoking and a must read for anyone who chooses to go into harms way.

Great book I must say.

I missed him speaking a few months back. Nobody was getting the approval for time off and seats were limited. I'm prepared for making it happen next time.

Tell me about it. I feel the same way. Some parts are very dry. I have to struggle to stay focussed. And of course, other parts are very interesting.

From what I hear, "On Combat" is an easier read. Also, if you get the chance, do yourself a favor and read "Lone Survivor" by Marcus Luttrell (US NAVY SEALS). Special Forces mission goes to sh*t. His SEALS team is wiped out, and he is the Lone Survivor. Running from the Taliban/Al Queda for 5 days before he is rescued. Talk about Survivor Mentality!

Yes, it is very very dry... and I am really trying to hump my way through. Everyone tells me that "On Combat" is a much better read.

I have heard of that book, "Lone Survivor" but I haven't much time lately to do any leisure reading. Make you a deal, when you finish your copies, let me know and I will go to your station and pick them up for free.

I've seen LTC Grossman twice. It was the best time/money I've spent...Truly inspiring! I'll go again as soon as the opportunity presents.

The first time I saw him I'd been up for about 28hrs and 36hrs by the time the seminar was over...I never fell asleep and I'm glad I didn't wuss out and not go!
