    Question about transporting a handgun

I looked everywhere but couldn't find anything about this so here it goes,
I don't have regular access to a vehicle so I was wondering if I can go to a shooting range on foot with an unloaded handgun in a locked container in a backpack? (no ammo on me at all)
Would this be legal or did I just ask a really dumb question?

Unloaded carry in a locked container in a public place that isn't a prohibited place like a government building or a courthouse is legal. There are some practicioners here and there of that kind of carry as their regular method, I think they refer to it as LUCC.

    More answers here....

Yep, you can transport in a locked case with the firearm unloaded, but it would be wise to tell a cop if you are contacted just to avoid problems later.
