    Patrol rifle

For those of you that get to carry a patrol rifle, what do you carry and why? What optics do you run?

Dept issued RRA Car A2. Why? Because that's what we get.

Same here, except with a A2 stock. Because that's what we get.

My current thinking on patrol rifle is KISS. Colt 6920 is ideal IMO. Your equipment needs to be able to be used effectively by whomever you have in your department that is not a gun-person, hence it should be the same as what accross the board.

The EOTech is great thing for those folks who have trouble shouldering and getting iron sight pictures from the support side.

I used to carry one of the gov't surplus M-16A1 for a few years but now carry a Knights Armament SR-15E3 with a Aimpoint T1.

Bushmaster a4's dept. issue. I have a surefire and an acog reflex amber dot 6.5 moa.....I love the sight, as it need no batteries but I wish the dot was a bit smaller.

Station Armory Pool guns. No issue, no personal purchase allowed.

One of the following depending on which is available:

Colt M16A1 with A2 handguard, RRA receiver with Eotech and fixed, co-witnessed BUIS.
Colt AR15A2 Carbine with 16" pencil barrel and A1 fixed stock...Same sights as above.
Colt M4 LE Carbine with Eotech and flip up BUIS (co-witnessed)

If I'm lucky it'll have a sling. No mods allowed.

                    Colt LE6920

                    Optic: Aimpoint T-1 w/LT-660 mount

I have seen alot of rails on patrol rifles but I'm trying to figure out why. We don't have IR designators or anything high speed. I've asked a few people and all I get is "It's cool."

When people pick up my rifle, the first thing they say is it's simple and light.

I went with a TactiLink single point sling, Magpul (have a hook up) CTR stock, MIAD, MBUS, MOE handguard, MVG and a Surefire M300A in a LT-172 mount.

The only thing I'd like to change is going to a BC 1.0 and an IWC Scout Mount for the MOE handguard and getting away from the MagPul Illumination kit.

Noveske N4 light with an Aimpoint T1 micro. I also have a Colt 6921 with an Aimpoint M4s. I can use either one.

I can only wish they would approve Noveske. I am jealous.

Since you have a T1 and M4. Which do you prefer? I have been getting cash offers from a friend to buy my T1 and I was going to go with the M4S and LaRue LT659.
