Letter to every single LEO on calguns

I'm probably not supposed to be here at all and if i get in trouble by the forum staff, i don't really care.

I know you guys don't hear it enough.. but thanks for the work you do. putting your life on the line and what not. I don't know if you guys appreciate this or not.. i dont know. i don't really have the courage to walk up to a uniformed policeman and thank him personally but i just wanted to thank you all for what you do.

I know i don't represent the majority but that doesn't mean i don't know something is good when i see it.

You should never be too shy to go up and talk to your local cop. We really don't bite and some plesant conversation is always welcome.

And your comments are greatly appreciated.

    Thank you.

Well said. It seems that the good Cops don't get enough pats on the back, so thanks guys and be safe.

I usually buy police officers free lunch when I see them at Apollos Burger in Garden Grove.
        They make awesome burger.

Well said, and thanks OP for saying it... I did a "how do you do and thanks" with a BART guy just yesterday who was taking a break outside a station. Told him it was a real zoo on the trains with the World Series parade crowd and thanked him for being out there.

Cops are real people too and every once in a while they don't mind a friendly conversation.

There is absolutely no reason why you can't be here. This is not a leo restricted forum. You will not be in trouble from staff (I'm staff) for posting in this forum as long as you abide by the rules in the sticky at the top of the forum. So far, you are doing an fine job.

Even tho I'm retired, thank you for your comments. I believe I can speak for all of the active and retired leos on this site by stating emphatically all of us appreciate what you said.

As was said by Ron-Solo, you should not have a problem approaching a leo to speak with him. Just be sure they are not involved on a stop, call, etc. I would think any leo would appreciate any complimentary remarks made by a member of the public they serve.

Actually, I honestly believe you do represent the majority of both the members here and society in general with your favorable comments; Again, thank you.

I have been bitten, spit on, yelled at, shot at, injured and complained on...in my 24 + year career. Once in a while, I got commendation from citizens which made me feel I am doing the right things. I have no regrets on my career. Thank you for the kind words.

I make it a point to speak with our local LEOS. My Wife's Sister and I just had a recent over 30 minute chat with a motor officer talking bikes and what he liked about his etc etc.

It all started with just a question about parking too. The LEOS in my town are not only friendly and available but they go out of their way to make people not feel like they are unapproachable.

Move to Woodland, you'll love the local PD. (PS) May not apply to all Yolo Sheriff's personnel but that's another story and not related to the Woodland PD

You wrong in that assumption, Eugene.

Victor beat me to it. I doubt you are in the minority.

I would like to believe that I make the following statements on behalf of my fellow LEO's:

We are not in this for thanks and gratitude, we are in it to serve you, the public, the citizen, our communities. Just as we stood tall and proud on the day we were sworn in until EOW, I understand this life is one of selflessness and servitude. Beyond words, and commands action. And, every now and then, you come across a person, much like yourself, that puts the gravy on top.

Thank you, OP, for your kind words.
