Aargh...when your spouse just doesn't get it.

I went to a funeral for a fallen officer. My wife commented on why do we all go to these. She seemed to think it was all about cops going, "to be seen." She was saying how she wouldn't want all the workers in her field to come by for her funeral, whereas I said I would want to be remembered in the way we do for each other as officers. She just shrugged it off.

I realized how she just doesn't get it.

    Anyone else struggle with this?

tell her you and your friends are not putting your life on the line for each other. If I was a soldier would it be different? If she says yes, then ask her what the difference is. Sounds like it something else that's bothering her. When was the last time to took her out for a good time?

It's about standing tall during a difficult time, supporting our fellow officers during a time of sorrow, not 'to be seen' as she views it. She'll get it someday. It may be her way of showing that she is worried about you.

The LEO is a brotherhood and family no matter what the agency. It is showing respect for a fallen family member.
