Flash suppressor trouble at the range? Really??

Hi guys; How seriously is the "No flash suppressor" thing taken with LEO's? Have you or anyone else in your department gone out of their way to enforce this?
So I'm "Joe Average"... a felony-free middle aged guy. I buy the brake pictured below, put it on my Mini-14, and take my Ruger to the public range in Redlands where I proceed to put little holes in paper a long ways off.
Is someone going to tap on my shoulder in the middle of group six, and ruin my day?

Probably not. But why temp fate, if you know it's illegal why do it! .... In reality those after market flash hiders really don't do anything but add needless length to your rifle. Plus it makes it hard to easily clean the muzzle area.

No "up side" to your plan only "down side" so why do it?
    Poke'm with a stick!

In order to have that on your mini14, you would need to install a magazine lock.

Flash supressor is a tool of the devil

...before i knew about all these goofy california laws I had a mini14 with a pistol grip stock, flash hider, and 40rd mags. Range officers would come up and talk about my cool toy and then leave me alone. No one ever bothered me. Then i came to calguns and got my learn on, grabbed an ar15 and got rid of all the mini14 feature crap anf kept my 40rds. Luckily i learned the easy way

FYI,if you mean the IFG range in Redlands,I believe its closed and has been for awhile now. If you know of another range in Redlands please enlighten us all.

Is that a brake or flash supressor? Those pin-on muzzle pieces are crap. I shot 1 off and the other did nothing

It's technically a supressor, although I like to refer to them as "flash enhancers"

I did'nt know the IFG range had been closed ... tells you how long it's been since I've been out. Where are we IE shooters going now? Lytle Creek?

An Officer does not have to go out of his way to enforce this. It's a clear violation of 12276.1(A)(1)(E).

I had to register my M-1A with it's G.I. flash suppressor as an AW.
Since the registration requirement, there have been a couple of brakes designed that are California compliant for the M-1A. I will probably take the flash suppressor off and put a brake on it and have the rifle removed from the AW list (DOJ will allow an M-1A to be taken off of the AW listing).

Don't take a chance. Take it off and enjoy your rifle without having to worry about it.

DOJ will cancel the registration of any RAW upon request of the owner. It is then the owner's responsibility to make certain the firearm is in compliance with state law. Unless you want to sell the firearm, why would you do this?

RAW's have a number of restrictions as to how they are transported(locked container, going to or from a range) and where they can be discharged (possible restrictions on BLM or Forest service land)and who can shoot them(no minors). Just replacing the FS to a brake takes all of that away.

My M1-A happens to be a 3 digit, all original Devine Texas gun. If I do ever want to sell it, it would be easier to do. Just another reason, but my main reasons are listed above.
