DUI checkpoint Vs Saturation patrol.

I need statistical information/publications on DUI Saturation patrols Vs. a Checkpoint for my criminal justice class I'm taking. I can find reports and media releases from different agencies regarding saturation patrols, but what i'm looking for is on a State average level.

I already gathered information from the 08 study conducted by the Office of traffic Safety and the CHP which mentions only DUI checkpoints.

I'd appreciated it someone could point me in the direction of a publication if one exists on " DUI Saturation patrols". I've found articles stating that the patrols are USUALLY more effective, but no references were provided.

I don't have any numbers for you unfortunately, but I say that "saturation patrols aka ROVING UNITS" are typically much more frequent than the "Dui checkpoints." They both can be very effective and there are also pro's and con's to both. The checkpoints have the potential to continuously screen vehicles, where a roving unit has to find a vehicle, find pc for a stop and determine if the drive is UI. With that said, a well setup DUI checkpoint will often have a few roving units assigned to the area as well. Hope this helps in some way.
