    Looking for some advice

I might have an opportunity to get back into law enforcement and its something that I really want to do. Ive been selling life insurance but I must admit its not the same kind of satisfaction at the end of the day. The money is nice when you make a sell but its not like you can guarentee that happens. I can guarantee Im not leaving my job till their is a firm offer but Im trying to prep the miss about the idea in case it comes. The girlfriend has been with me for 3 years is not very happy about it. I know surprise surprise. Her concerns are the typical safety concerns (which I have pretty much defused) but also shift work (aka not seeing me) and the fact I like working swings and graveyards rather than days. No kids or house and no marriage yet (but its in the cards).

Any advice? I know how hard getting LEO jobs are at the moment but I want to start the prep on this early in order to try an ease a change if possible. Thank you in advance brothers stay safe.

LE jobs are to tough to get right now. You will be competeing against officers that have been laid off due to budget issues.

LASD doesn't have an academy class scheduled until at least March 2011, and that is tentative. The last class we graduated had 20 something deputies. Two years ago, we were running 2-3 classes of 125 at the same time. That was happening for almost 4 years. Not anymore.

As far as the girlfriend, if she's not on board, something will fail. Either the job or the relationship. Kind of blunt, but it is reality. Cops have a high divorce rate, and these issues have a big impact.

Man, that is a tough one. The hiring process is what it is right now and for the future. IMHO, domestric tranquility cannot be over stated. If she isn't on board that will be a tough road for you. I guess you'd have to weigh the priorities between the job and the lady.

Not sure how long ago or how long you did it before, but now that it has changed quite a bit. In just the last five years I've seen some radical shifts in thinking and management tactics.
