Ok partners, need some input on Taser holsters and Collapsible Batons

I carry mine on my left side, on the belt. I can't cross draw strong or weak handed, and it has to be on my left side. I am getting a little weary of carrying on my belt and have had transition issues.

Does anyone utilize a drop leg holster? What have you guys had good experiences with?

Also, I have been looking into Peacekeeper RCB's - I bent my ASP about a month ago and it wont close anymore... and the Peacekeepers seem pretty sturdy. Anyone use one? Input?

I've carried an ASP for years with no issues. Our dept now requires TASER's to be in a cross draw position to avoid confusion with duty weapon. Personally, I like the drop leg holsters. I've used the SOTech model.

One choice for drop leg holster (the one Ron mentioned):

The new SOTech holsters appear to have removeable cartridge pouches as well (the old style was permanently affixed pouches). If you position the holster on the side or slightly towards the front of the thigh and holster the Taser with the handle facing front, you'll probably be able to draw it with either hand without too much difficulty.

I use a Blackhawk drop leg extension on my non-gun side. On the days I go 10-8 with an X26, I'll loop the SOTech belt strap through the male portion of the extension buckle. That way, I can also replace the Taser with a gas mask or an extra ammo rig (also set up with Blackhawk buckles).

If you carry a baton with the intent to actually use it against a suspect (as opposed to simply carrying it to comply with policy), I recommend carrying the longest, heaviest baton you can quickly deliver multiple strikes with. The RCB is one of, if not the, sturdiest expandable batons available. It is substantially heavier than other batons but the balance point is very nice - right at or near the midpoint of the baton. I believe the handle diameter is 1 1/4".

Whatever baton you carry, IDEALLY, you should be able to handle/swing it like this gentleman (among others): (Eric Knaus aka Top Dog of the Dog Brothers)

I have the drop leg holster (safariland) with the ASP right behind my gun. No problems since moving it from the belt. Taser..cross draw on left side. Do you use the aluminum ASP? Our department had to re-issue the steel batons for that same reason. Stupid question - Did you try taking the endcap off and bending the clip back into shape? You'd be surprised how many of my co-workers forgot you could do that. RCB looks like it works. My dept won't let us change.

The RCB is massive. Everyone notices it and wants to touch it. The retention/glass breaker end cap makes it stand out even more.

Drop leg....Blackhawk serpa is the way to go!

I have a CB but dont carry it on my belt. If I need it, I grab it and go.

Our dept says our tasers shall be on our support/weak side. I run a custom holster from texshoemaker in a basket weave.

I cannot help you on the collapsable baton. I carry a 26" piece of dymondwood

I have my dymondwood too but I've grown accustomed and quite proficient in using my colapsable. I might invest in a peacemaker because by all accounts I've seen its a heavy duty m-f'er.

Because of the extra weight of the RCB, there is slightly less control. Newton's first law of motion; an object at rest tends to stay at rest. An object in motion tends to stay in motion, in the same direction and speed.

The (Bonowi) Gtek G-1 Camlock baton is something that I'd really want to see and handle. Expensive and I'm unsure about availability. http://www.gtekgear.com/g1_strength.html

Problem with the "best of the breed" models like RCB and G-1 is that they are not readily available at cop shops. AFAIK, Peacekeeper is the sole source of their RCB.

I just talked to my boss. He said he'd let me have one shipped to my substation. I think I may make the order here in a few days.

I carried a 21 inch ASP with a grip cap for the last six or seven years I was on the street. Always used 26 inches of straight hickory prior to that.

Far as I am concerned... ASP = Win. I found I was able to get really good "bat speed" through impact and still retain good control all the way through the striking sequence. The RCB looks like a really solid piece of gear and I'm sure I'd be trying one if I was still active.

I never carried a Taser in the field and looking back there are a bunch of times I wish I had been.

I carry an X26 on my off side setup for cross draw in a Blackhawk Serpa. I hate the Serpa for real guns, but for the Taser it's the win.

I carry a 26" ASP in my back strongside pants pocket (not the sap pocket). I view the ASP as my backup for the 29" cocobolo straight stick I carry.

There are a few guys using the RCB at my work. They're friggin huge and I don't need to add any more weight to my belt. I prefer to just keep my wood baton.

I was issued a Monadnock PR-24 in 1976 and that is what I turned in in 2003.

I like the spec model mentioned the best its what i was issued. For a baton the Rgb Peacekeeper is hard to argue with. yes its heavy, but if you break that thing you must be superman cause its built like a tank.
