I dont know if you all have seen this video. It is an off duty LEO in Buenos Aires Argentina that is caught up in a shootout. It is amazing this guy survived. Just a reminder to all of us that we need to be aware at all times. Stay safe everyone

Agreed! I would also remind officers not to forget the winning mindset as well.I dont know if you all have seen this video. http://blutube.policeone.com/Media/6...-in-Argentina/Laws that forbid the carrying of arms...disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes...Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man.

Good read and video, I think the title of this thread should more appropriately be named "ESPECIALLY off duty you need situational awareness".Land of the Free Because of the Brave!Comment

Looks more like he was expecting it and didn't see the lay off man in time. At around 1:14 he takes off away from the wall into the street and seems to tunnel vision on the two guys coming from the bottom of the frame and doesn't seem to notice the first shooter coming from the top of the frame until 1:22, which by then is entirely too late. Seems more like a hit that went south since the guy appears to recognize the danger from the two suspects coming from the bottom of the frame, not to mention the amount of time taken and the number of shooters.
Anyone have the real story behind this? Either way, stay safe out there guys and gals, a scary reminder of situational awareness and to practice keeping your head on a swivel lest we tunnel vision and lose sight of the bigger picture.

I've been gone 7yrs. and I still am situationally aware wherever I go. I still sit facing the entrance when in a restaurant and constantly am looking at people who are in there. I do the same in stores and anywhere else I go. I always check out where the exits are also. It is instinctive.Comment

That is an officer that first knelt beside him isn't it? Thought I saw a badge on the coat when the person turned around. Is 3 1/2 minutes a good response time from first call of officer down to first unit on scene? Maybe it's just me, but watching all that time I'm thinking "god where's the help?" Kind of odd how that officer comes into the frame only 30 seconds after bad guys exit frame...and from the same direction the bad guys ran?Last edited by jtmkinsd; 10-03-2010, 12:40 AM.Originally posted by orangegloWelcome to failtown, population = you.Comment
