    CA. OC ammo question

Sorry for the beaten to death question but search brings up a zillion posts/threads lol.

I like to catfish at night and my favorite spot is near downtown Sacramento and in city limits. The area is a bad one and I would like to carry a weapon with me on my person. If you have a holstered unloaded semi-auto on one side can you carry full magazines on the other-side in a magazine holster like this one below? If not what's the point of OC since some crackhead could just beat you unconscious and acquire themselves a shiny new weapon? Thanks not only for the answer but for your public service :<) I saw the other OC thread someone said it was ok but I would like to be sure. I assume I can call the local substaion to find out for sure?

Yes you can, and that is the preferred way to carry ammunition when you are open carrying. There is more info here.

You said that your fishing spot is near downtown Sacramento. Please be aware that you can't open carry while you are in a public place within 1000' of the grounds of a K-12 school. See here for more info on those laws.
