    Agility Course

Hey guys hows it going? I just started the hiring process and I am wondering for this portion of it they want the most sit-ups and push-ups in a minute how many do you guys think would be enough to put me in the higher ranks of the group?

50 of both would probably put you in the 80th percentile. When I completed my academy I was doing about 60 push-ups and 75 situps a minute. Dont ask about now...maybe 30 and 50 :-( ....

As far as I know with our dept the agility has nothing to do with our ranking. It is you pass or fail. No number associated to it.

Yeah, the POST academy physical agility is pass/fail so you aren't assigned a rank.

I know in my academy recruits were ranked on everything from physical agility to academics. I feel that the ranking was more of an incentive to out-do all 65 other alpha males in the class. It was nice to tell my ranking at oral boards and interviews as a bonus answer to "put the iceing the cake".

Good luck with the whole process, what agency?
When liberty is on the line who will be standing shoulder to shoulder with you?

Depends. You could be processing with a group of fat-bodied couch potatoes or maybe you could be testing with a group of still-in-shape ex-college athletes or newly discharged Devil Dogs.

My recommendation would be to find out what the PT workouts/requirements are like at the END of a particular academy and shoot to surpass those Prior to getting hired...

80 gets you noticed. 50 gets you by.

When I got out of the Army, I tested with a local police department. One event in the agility test was a 1/2 mile run around the local track. I was in pretty good shape and didn't think it would be an issue.
I believe there were 6 or 8 of us in the group to run. At the starter pistol, they all took off in a dead run. I took off at a jog. Uh, oh. I thought they were going to smoke me as there was no way I could sprint 1/2 mile.
About the end of the first 1/4 mile they were gassed. I passed them and finished a good 100 yards ahead of them.
                  Run smart.
                  Do good recklessly
