    Officer gone...

    To my Brothers & Sisters,

Just got the word that one of our younger Officers passed away today about 1800 hrs. It will no doubt be in the papers in the next day or so. Lion hearted kid from the New York area. Three years total on the job i think.
Great prospects for a long career.

    Cancer. Damn.

    Rest in peace young warrior...

I still can't figure out why heaven needs so many Cops, Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines, when it is filled with Angels.

    Rest in Peace brother.

So sad to hear of a youngster being taken by such means. Godspeed our brethren.

                      Sorry for the loss.

Is cancer a presumptive condition for LEOs like it is w/ firemen?

We lost a homicide detetcive last year from a cancer. It was presumptive. He was the youngest and healthiest one in the bureau.

                        Sorry for the loss.

I doubt it. While cops face many dangers on the job they generally do not have the chemical exposure during their careers like firefighter do.
UI'm a sheetmetal worker by trade and for many years sheetmetal workers were right there with firefighters. Cops have enough stress on the job, they have a high rate of alcoholism, divorce, and suicide. These are what kill silently and are truly a tragity of the job.

Cancer is one that knows nothing of what a person has done. Good or bad, it effects us all. It's a sad day when we lose anybody in uniform, but to see or hear of somebody in the dawn of their career being cut down is sad indeed.

                              Godspeed
There are 3 kinds of people in this world.
The wise, learn from the mistakes of others.
The smart, learn from their own mistakes.
The others, well......they just never learn.
