    So. Cal. agencies hiring laterals....?

    Folks,

Anyone know of So Call agencies (OC specifically) hiring laterals?

Im originally from OC and currenly work and live in N. Cal. My folks are getting up in age and I'm going to make the move back south to help them out.

Any reccomendations for a 11 year vet would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

It's a little ways away from you, but I believe El Cajon (San Diego county) is looking for officers, lateral xfers only.
What do you mean my birth certificate expired?

Long Beach is currently taking applications for laterals....

Not OC, but it borders OC.

Hey man...Can't it wait for 2-3 years??? You don't have to worry about layoffs with 11 years on, but if you move to a new dept and start at the bottom....Your just asking for trouble. I see more lay offs coming for a lot of dept.s soon! 2-3 years, there SHOULD be a boom again, and you will have dept.s fighting over you, offering sign on bonuses!

It seems to come and go about every 5 years or so.....we have had a down turn for over two years, so I HOPE it comes back....That being said, I bet you agree he should stay put for now, huh!

hard choice, family is sometimes more important than your job. not the best move at the moment, but in most cases depts cant hire brand new guys and are able to hire the transfers. i havent heard much about depts actually laying guys off.

I live there and actually I don't think it's bad at all. It isn't the metropolitan type atmosphere that San Diego city is, but it has a lot of nice scenery, and a lot of gun owners.

According to the paper today, Oakland is laying 80 off I believe.

A couple of years ago, Hemet PD was giving $3K bonuses for laterals. This year they laid off 9; probably the same guys.

I work for a small dept. in the central valley now after buying property in the foothills. Unfortunatley due to many factors the dept. went from a GREAT dept. to what it is now. We lost 4 guys a week ago or so. That was 25% of our patrol staff........

Needless to say morale is in the toilet.

It's a bit north of OC but (City of San Buena)Ventura PD is taking applications for laterals (until Aug. 4). For trainees, today's the deadline to apply.

                              Did lay off 80.....

BART is supposedly looking for 15 laterals, and Berkeley is hiring 3.
