    CVC 22102 question.

Is a U-turn in the left lane (viewer's side) illegal? This is a business district.

    Much appreciated!

Well..... The short anwser is no its not. CVC 22102 states: U-Turn: Business District-Okay only at intersection, or at a provided opening on a divided highway (island) per CVC 21651. turn to be made from the left-hand lane on a multi-laned highway for traffic moving in the same direction.

The U turn would be ok, unless it is posted no U turn. Also while it looks like a business district, per the definition supplied in the Vehicle Code I would doubt that it fits.

Ah Convoy Street southbound at the Home Depot Expo. I used to patrol that beat. It's not legal because it's not an intersection and it's a business district. I would say it's unsafe also because it's on that curve.

I never wrote a ticket there though.

its not a posted No U turn, but I would stiill say it was legal because CVC 22102 states at an intersection or at a provided opening on a divided highway (island).
