Where do you buy your boots?

I have major orthopedic issues including limited range of motion in my ankle.

I have spent major bucks on custom orthotics...and they are all pretty much useless.

I have gotten good recommendations on boot searching through the topics here, but I have one problem...

I can't buy online, I MUST be able to try them on since shoes are so hit and miss for me.

Can anyone recommend a good retail location in the Sacramento Area?

Sac Uniform on Arden just East of Howe Ave.
South side. Turn at the Arbeys. All the way towards the back of the parking lot.

I've had surprisingly good luck with some of the boots sold at Big 5. They sometines have Rocky and Magnums at a good price too. The 'Respose Gear' are hit and miss, but I've had a couple of pair of them over the years too.

I went to the Oakley store at Arden mall, tried on a pair of si boots and went home and ordered them on usstanderdissue.com for about 115 bucks delivered. I thought I would try something different than danners this time

I LOVE my RG's....25 bucks and they are broken in in two shifts! I go through boots about every 8 months, no matter what the brand, and RG's are the most comfortable(with the exception of the addidas boots my dept just ordered for me for my new assignment). I had magnums for my last pair and they killed my feet!

For the OP, if you just cant trust a 25-40$ pair of boots, go to Sac Uniform...They will take care of you!

I picked up a pair of Response gear boots for MSF (you need boots that covers your ankles) 'cause the price was right and I needed something quick. After that weekend I picked up some real riding boots and wore the RGs at work. Within two or three months the sole was falling apart and my feet hurt at the end of my shift. Other big five shoes are the same-break in quick, fall apart quick. A few pairs of shoes later and you were better off buying somethin nice. I've since sworn off big five shoes.

Bates Durashocks, enough said. Most comofortable boots I have had in my life. Even more comfortable than Danners by far and you can have them resoled.

Thank you for the responses. I have a few types in mind based on other threads. I may need to get a (side or front) zippered boot to make it easier to get my foot in.

Imagine getting your boot on without bending your ankle more then 15-20 degrees and you know what I'm up against.

I will be giving Sac Uniform a try. Thanks again for the recommendation!
