No not do lots of sit ups.....sit ups cause repetitive compression of the disc. As you compress the disc the material moves backwards. This increases your chances of herniating a disc over time.

Do crunches also cause the same kind of compression to the disc?

Quartermaster has the Oakley's in stock, I wound find out your size there and register at www.usstandardissue.com and order from them. usstandardissue sells only to LE and Militay, you get huge breaks on glasses although not sure how much the boots run.

Yes, they do but to a lesser degree. There are many different exercises that will target the abdominals without having to do sit ups or crunches.

Protect yourself so you can protect your friends and family. I'm in law enforcement. I deal with tactical gear, especially Tactical gloves

I originally injured the lower back from a training about 10 years ago. Then I was rear ended 3 times on duty, once by a fully loaded produce truck. I am still in a lot of pain. I will probably have to go through a surgery which I am not looking forward to.

If I get that surgery, I am certain that my department will try to reitre me medically.

Legacy advice: Try to sit up straight rather than "scootching" forward in the seat. Never use a SOB holster.

Check your dept's GOs, maybe they allow suspenders. If not get it re-written. Suspenders take just a few pounds off of the waist but make a big difference.

Tried suspenders. They sucked for many reasons. I now wear this:
