Sig 226R/229R/239 are the issue guns in your choice of 9mm or .40
you can purchase and carry your own gun as long as it is a Sig and you maintain it at your expense...because the journey is the worthier part...The Shepherd's Tale -
even from the days before they became a Sig only department, the only guns banned from duty carry were the pre-series 80 1911, the Browning Hi-Power, and any Glock.
the Special Tactics folks started with 220s and changed over to the 226 in .40 when the department changed over to the "R" models...because the journey is the worthier part...The Shepherd's TaleComment

Yes, I remember when the change over to the R models......I was sad to see my P229 go and made the move to the 226.Last edited by J_B; 05-27-2010, 12:11 AM.

I miss my P229 too. When I got mine issued to me it was a little worn but it had the smoothest double action trigger pull.Napoleon, don't be jealous that I've been chatting online with babes all day. Besides, we both know that I'm training to be a cage fighter.Comment

i wonder if it was mine...i turning it in after about a year because i gave up on the .40 and went back to my Beretta 96...i couldn't stand the stock trigger and cleaned it up a little. did it have the flats on the slide polished? When I got mine issued to me it was a little worn but it had the smoothest double action trigger pull.
i used to qualify with my Beretta just to play with the range staff...that and bringing enough mags to never have to reload them...they hated it, but what could they say if i always qualified in the 90s...because the journey is the worthier part...The Shepherd's TaleComment

No polished flats. It was the black nitron. I do remember shooting one that had the bead blasted slide and it had a nice trigger pull.i wonder if it was mine...i turning it in after about a year because i gave up on the .40 and went back to my Beretta 96...i couldn't stand the stock trigger and cleaned it up a little. did it have the flats on the slide polished?

Mine brand spanking new.....was kinda nice since my 229 looked like some recruit beat the poop out of it.
Me likey my 226....just wish we'd move to Glocks. I only say this because I do not want to wait 75 more days for a Raven Holster....waiting that long for my G27 Raven was 60 days too long.

When I signed the paperwork at the range, the time of the year was the medals qual. I oiled up my beat up P229 and shot a DM....lol. I knew it was a good gunMine brand spanking new.....was kinda nice since my 229 looked like some recruit beat the poop out of it.

makes you wonder about the officers who need a couple of days to psych themselves up and then barely qualify...doesn't it?I oiled up my beat up P229 and shot a DM....lol. I knew it was a good gun...because the journey is the worthier part...The Shepherd's TaleComment
