    Question about Castaic Lifeguards

A buddy of mine was fishing at Castaic (upper lake) a couple of weeks ago, and was confronted by an on duty lifeguard who asked to see his fishing license. My friend produced the license, but was wondering if they had the authority to request it. The lifeguard also asked to see how many fish he had on his stringer. Can lifeguards act in the same manner as game wardens?

LA County Lifeguards have limited peace officer authority. I don't remember what section they fall under.

And state park's lifeguards, who work pretty much all the state beaches outside LA county, are full 830.2 peace officers, same as the state park rangers. As State Park Peace Officers, their official titling, the state park lifeguards have game warden authority as well for resource management.
