Thinking about getting an internship

So like it says i was thinking of applying for an internship at the local police department, just to get to meet people there and get some work experience. its secretarial work i would believe

i intend to look for a job in the future some time as a law enforcement officer.


do you guys think this would be a good idea?

if you are interested into getting into law enforcement i recommended anything that will help you gain knowledge of how things actually work so go for it

Great idea. It's definitely a step up from a ride-along. Ride-alongs are great, don't get me wrong, but an internship shows a little more interest, commitment and dedication. I say, do it. Commit yourself to at least a couple days a week for at least six months. At the end, request a letter from your immediate supervisor (usually a sgt.) on a departmental letterhead, acknowledging your internship. Attach it to every LEO resume you turn in. Good luck.

thanks for the replies guys, i appreciate it

although i will only be able to do it over the summer as i have to get back to college after summer break. however i will be able to dedicate more time to the internship because of this as well.
