    Transporting firearms

I've read the PCs and god knows what else and all I've managed to do is confuse myself to high hell.

Firearm(s) in case(s), unloaded, ammunition in magazine in the case(s) with the firearm(s). The case(s) is/are locked and in the back of my SUV.

Locking ammunition in with the case is legal, yes?

Now I'm driving up north to visit my folks in Shasta, handgun locked in case, unloaded, ammunition in magazine is also in the case (Dad and I like to go shooting together when I visit). Locked case is on the passenger seat next to me. This is probably unwise as it brings attention, but is it legal or does it need to be beyond arms reach?

All I see in the concealed carry code is locked in the trunk or in a locking container (except utility compartment or glove box), but not necessarily that it has to be out of reach of the driver.

Passenger compartment, unloaded, in locked case. Trunk is considered a locked case not glove box or console.I would not have a magazine inserted( no ammo affixed to the firearm) but I have one available.
that's my take on it I may be wrong .

Looks good to go to me.

So long as ammo is not inserted or attached in any way to the firearm, good to go. Revolver ammo in speedloaders or semi auto ammo in magazines are all okay in the same container with the firearm, just don't put the charged speedloader into the open cylinder or the loaded mag into the pistol's grip.

Probably not really a big deal. So long as the container is secured and the gun inside isn't loaded, it's good to go. If it makes you nervous, put the case in the back seat or the cargo area.

There is nothing that it needs to be out of reach of the driver. Glove box and utility compartments up front are definitely no-no's.

Unloaded... first and foremost. Don't overthink it, you were on the right course all along.

Sweet, thanks. I don't know how the hell you guys enforce these laws, reading them is an exercise in frustration.
