      Yes, what academy?

      How are your pushups?

Do you know PC 15? "A crime or public offense is an act committed or omitted by a law commanding or forbidding it." etc.

Do you have the first paragraph of the law enforcement code of ethics memorized?

Do you have two of everything? Keep it in your bag in case you or a classmate forget something at home.

sometimes its best to be mediocre....

fly under the radar, dont be the standout best at things and dont be the PB always failing and trailing. do your work, dont compain and be in physical shape.

I always tell people that it was the best 6 months of my life that I never want to do again

The farther away I get from my graduation day the better the memories get.

You should be running 3 times per week, 3 to 6 miles. Have two to three pairs of good running shoes and rotate them each run. Doing pushups, situps and mountain climbers is also a good intro to the Academy PT.

Every time you f%&* up they will write notes about you in the system that you will get to look at when you are done! And yes this does have an effect on your future. I know they screwed me because I made a few mistakes. Basically they r watching U every sec! There r cameras & microphoness in the classrooms, microphones rigged all over the place so just don't do anything you will regret later. KISS LOTS OF BUTT and don't try to be the tough guy! If you make a mistake don't explain yourself and don't stand out! Good luck! I am sure you are going to OCSD as u are in Newport! Have fun with Missel! hahaha

Just remember this you can't be perfect all the time. People make mistakes. Suck it up and don't make the same mistakes twice.
Pt sucks but you get over it after a while. Pm if you need help polishing stuff I got some pointers that can get you a great shine.

Practice practice practice everything from range stuff to pc vcs to yuor code of ethics

And best of all... do not I repeat do not laugh during inspection. I can guarantee you will get a lot of positive upper body reinforcements for that

Good luck you won't regret it

+1 on much of the above.

** Know PC 836, knowing what a crime is = bueno. Knowing what it is you can do about it = priceless. Clue... 'what is 836'? is the first question I asked every trainee I ever worked with.
** Have two pairs of shoes / boots and two pairs of running shoes broken in and ready to go. Workout shoes get sweaty, and uniform shoes can / will get scuffed. Best to have extras and avoid panic.
** Having two of most stuff is good because you can always help a buddy. The friends you make in the academy will be for life... and can mean your life someday down the road. Looking out for each other is paramount and it shows the tac officers something they want to see.
** You should already have been running, keep after it. Push ups, pull ups (or moderate free weights) and ab work should be in your routine now.
** Empty your head of everything else so that you can focus on what will be in front of you. The academy experience, academically, is a lot like drinking from a fire hose in the volume of information you will receive and be responsible for.
** Don't lose your sense of humor and be prepared to make mistakes. Making them in the academy is far better than making them in the field.

                  Good luck!!!!

Thanks for the fantastic responses guy. Don't take this personally, but I'm going to leave the name of the Academy out of this conversation, when I'm graduating, I'll spill the beans!

                        Keep the info coming!

my advise is do not take any learning domain lightly. you only get one remediation test and if you fail, your out.

Personal Responsibility! If you make a mistake, own it, learn from it and don't do it again. In LE you can never loose your credibility.
