    27315.3

The above vehical code seems to indicate that there are several exemptions to the seatbelt law. Buses, school buses, limosuines, taxi's, RV's and even the police are exempt from the seatbelt law. The section goes on to describe "motor trucks" which I think they mean "pickup trucks"?? And then I see in 27315.3a it defines it to apply to "motor trucks" of 6001lbs GVW or lower. So are trucks of greater than 6001lbs exempt from seatbelt law? One CHP told me that "the legislature took the big rig exemption out" and that it applied to all trucks. So there was at least some tacit admission that at one time big rigs were exempt but i don't see anything in the code to cover that change (if there ever was one)

A "motor truck" or "motortruck" is a motor vehicle designed,
used, or maintained primarily for the transportation of property.
