Looking for POST info

If I were a police officer in another state (say, NYPD for argument's sake) and I wanted to become a CA peace officer, would I typically require to go through the whole POST academy, or the 3 week "re-certification" class?

I am aware that some departments- Los Angeles, Long Beach, etc.- require you to go through their academies regardless of any experience you might already have (including a CA POST certificate).

Threr are some different requirement for the peace officers standard between two states. You will have to go through maybe four weeks of abbreviated academy for lateral transfers.

All I know is when I came back to CA from NC, I had to back through the POST academy....I soon realized why.

more than likely you will have to do the whole academy not just a recert.

He can challenge the test and not have to complete an academy. We have two officers from out of state. One from Nv and on from Az.
