      Exactly.
Until we have shall-issue CCW, or LOC becomes legal, we only have two options... UOC and at least have a chance, or call 911 and wait even longer before someone other than the attacker is able to fire a shot.

Sound like your friend's life has been threatened. Maybe he should get an RO against the Marshall and apply for a CCW?

Then I'd try to avoid hypothetical situations.

When I walk my dog in the ghetto part of town (San Diego Corridor area) I can't UOC because I live within 1000' of a school and I can't CCW because I'm not part of the social elite in San Diego City.

            What now???

            Eff this tyrannical .gov.

P.S. U.L.C.C is B.S. IMO, no way you can be at the ready fast enough like UOC or CCW.

Why wouldn't a U.S. Marshal (one L) know the law? They are Federal law enforcement not state or local. He may be totally clueless to California law, he enforced Federal law.

WTF, Why is a US Marshall so afraid of a man uoc? To me this man has some serious mental problems, an unloaded gun carried by a law abiding citizen OMG were all gonna die..... If your friend had any intentions to hurt that US Marshall he probably wouldn't be showing him a gun before hand.

I live in a school zone in San Diego. And I just LUCC'ed while walking the dogs I'm presently dogsitting.

Sure, LUCC isn't fast. But it's a hell of a lot faster than the gun sitting in your safe at home.

                      LUCC procedure:
                      1. Run
                      2. Unlock case
                      3. Draw and load weapon.
                      4. Pray for the sake of the assailant, that he's not still there when you turn around.

There's always tasers as an option too, if you've gotta have something you could pull out quickly.

I saw this thread before there were any posts and decided to see how it would develop. That was a mistake on my part as I should have deleted this 2nd hand one sided story from the get go.

To the OP, you have presented your friend's side of the story, so it is not even first hand info; you don't know what, if anything was left out or not presented exactly as it occurred, if it occurred at all.

Anyone with leo experience knows after a rather short period of time on the job that when obtaining info from two parties; whether it be a DV or a 415 neighbor, there are always 3 sides of the story. Using the DV as an example: it would be his side, her side and somewhere in the middle; the truth.

If desired, your friend can contact an attorney for legal advice. We do not have all the information, nor will we ever obtain it, so there is no need for the speculation or accusations of mental illness to continue.

Grammaton gave some excellent advice and it is the advice of the Calguns Foundation also.

This thread has outlived whatever usefulness it may have had, if any.
