Is there a new chipped windshield law?

I stop at the gas station and some guy comes up offers to fix the chips in my windsheild, I say no thanks. He replies oh man there is a new law you will be getting tickets. What's the truth guys?

It's not a new law.... it's always been illegal to have a chipped/cracked shield.
Usually gets ignored unless it's in the driver's line of vision... ends up being used as an excuse to fish for DUI like the burned out taillight.

yea the thing is that any chip big enough to be noticed in passing by the police is unfixable with the little goo kits

What if your windshield just got chipped & your exited the freeway to gas up & a cop saw you & wrote you up? That would be terrible.

What's a fix it ticket cost these days? $100? My brother got a ticket because he was driving my car that had it's license plate light out. The "fix it" ticket cost $10, but that was about a year and a half or two ago. Then I see a local news anchor's blog entry where she got a $25 ticket for using her phone while stopped at a red light. Her ticket $25 ticket was actually $125. According to her blog, it was $25 for the ticket at $100 processing fees ($60 state and $40 local, IIRC). Reminds me of what Rahm Emanuel said about the opportunities a crisis creates. I'll have to check the actual fees out, but that's what the news anchor blogged on her experience and what they told her.

That's a no-points moving violation.
Fixits are still $10 with no penalty assessments unless you try to fight it.

I don't remember there being any assessments for fighting a fix-it ticket. Hell I got a ticket for having non-dot tires on my Cuda. I took the tire off and brought it with me to court, LOL.

I got pulled over for a cracked windshield. He told me if he saw me again he would give me a ticket. I just avoided driving in that area with that car for about half a year haha

he gave me a break because I was leaving my college. I got it fixed later when I got money

I think he gave you a break because he was Peace Officer. Now if he was a Law Enforcement Officer, I think it would have turned out differently.
