OLL training bulletin for my department

I am putting together information to send to my training and risk management divisions to hopefully get a training bulletin out to the deputies of my department. I currently have the Sacramento PD training bulletin and calguns flow chart that I will present to them.

Any one have any additional information that I should include in my presentation?

Erik,
Please reinforce the difference between listed/prohibited rifles and the new breed of off list lowers built to resemble the listed/AW rifles but with the DoJ defined "non-detachable" magazine.
Explain that the "bullet button" releases are not illegal(sorry double negative) they have not been specifically addressed by DoJ and meet their definition of requiring a tool to remove the magazine.
I really appreciate your efforts to educate your personnel in this area.

You should get your D.A. on board with your memo, and make the deputies aware that the D.A. will not be filing cases on people for having proper OLL rifles and 10/30 mags.

Please include the fact that many here legally have "featureless rifles" without mag locks and +10 round mags too.

Addressing OLL handguns would be another great service for everyone involved as well.

Update: Risk management got back to me today. The sergeant liked what he saw and he has forwarded all my materials to our weapons and training divisions for review...

I did an 8hr training class for our dept. last spring... I brought in over 100 guns from our training safe and had them work the guns up ... barrel lengths, action types, serial numbers removed...etc. and had them discuss why they were illegal or legal... also brought in "Assault Weapons"... and had them diagnose... I laminated the flow chart from here as one page front/back and distributed it to the officers to put in their posse box... the flow chart is very useful and we have officers using it when they find guns...the flow chart is a VERY Very useful item...have the clerical staff print it off in color and then laminate to give to the officers is my suggestion....wouldn't hurt to also distribute a couple of copies of pictures of Monster Man or featureless builds...

great overview, the only thing I would like to see added is: regardless if there is a magazine installed or not, a rifle does not have the ability to accept a detachable magazine if a bullet button is installed

HA....funny...My department just got a legal advisory letter about open carry. I presented my sgt. the OLL flowchart today and he liked it. I laminated off enough for our whole department and now they all have one! I will try to get the DA on board.

Training bulletin will be coming out probably some time next week...

Then sometime after the 1st of the year we will be doing briefing trainings with actual OLL AR15's and 10/30 and 10/20 magazines being passed around to the Deputies so they can see the bullet button, etc.
