Border Patrol Job Offer

So I just got the call today and was offered two different duty stations

Tuscon Sector in Aho AZ or Del Rio Sector in Eagle Pass TX

Im pretty excited but dont know which one to choose

any calgunners have any experience with this

I actually signed up for a CA duty station, but oh well

Some quick research....

Ajo, Arizona

Eagle Pass, Texas

Ajo is away from the border a bit and out in the middle of pretty much nowhere. The population is very small. Services might be limited so if kids, schools and healthcare availability factor into your decision you might want to consider the other post.

Eagle Pass is directly on the border, with an international crossing to Piedras Negras. Eagle Pass is a larger city than Ajo and will have more services available. There is outstanding hunting and fishing opportunities nearby, if you are into that sort of thing.

From the perspective of the work, Eagle Pass is a hotbed of activity, and the cartels are active on both sides of the border. Ajo is in western Pima County which is a pretty huge smuggling conduit.

Thats the high level. You might try contacting the station chiefs and asking them the hard questions about the work they are doing as someone who has the job offer in hand and is looking where to go.

Yup I took a polygraph. Not the funnest test but I passed

I'm 24, no wife or kids. Just a dog.
Pre employment has easy requirements. The academy is gonna be tough

Yeah, the academy used to be hard, now not so much. They used to weed them out at the academy, now they leave it to the stations. I would say Eagle Pass over Ajo.

Congratulations Axewound and good luck in the academy.

Just remember one thing while in the academy; the rules change from minute to minute depending how much the DIs want to screw with you. Just keep saying yes sir/no sir, yes ma'am/no ma'am and you should be ok.

Actually one more thing; if you have any female DIs, do not screw up and say yes or no sir to them by mistake. A cadet in my platoon did that often out of nervousness and it was really hard not to laugh while she messed with him.

You use to have to be proficient with bagpipes to be in the BP. But due to budgetary restraints, they have had to cut back on equipment a little bit.
