+1 for peerless. S&W ok not great.
I dunno, I've never been much for guns. I mean, sure, we have the usual gun by the door, another near the TV, one in the kitchen, and another in the bedroom...and several others laying around. For the most part though, we keep our home free of guns. We are peace loving folks.Comment

I like the Peerless ones. Two cuff cases on the belt so I can reach with either hand. Some like the hinge cuffs, that's great for compliant ones. The link one comes in really handy for the ones that love to resist and be combative, in which you're just trying to find a wrist (the opposite cuff can be rotated). I find that the best one for me in an institutional setting is the Peerless linked cuffs.sigpic

I bought my wife those and she had to buy different cases to carry them in...the color part is a plastic overlay (not that you'll be carrying pink, but just in case you want another color.)Sent from Free AmericaComment

I switched from Hiatts to the new ASP's. Pretty nice and they are lighter weight also. Have you thought of using ASP flexible cuffs instead? One time use, lightweight, easy to use and if they get bloody it doesn't mater since you are throwing them away anyway. 2 pack cost me $20 I think about 3 years ago... I bought a few packs and use them on bloody 5150's
I carried Hiatts because you could back load them, they were extrememly durable and of extremely high quality. They use three sets of teeth in the ratchet mechanism to prevent shimming. They do cost a bit more though and weigh more.Murphy's Law - What can happen will happen at the least opportune momentComment

peerless cuffs
I ldont like the peerless cuffs. The double lok is like a pin hole that you push down with a cuff key. The problem I have found is if while they are cuffed they can hit them against a wall or seat and the double lock comes off. Just a heads up for those who use them. I like cuffs that have a slide double lock feature.Comment

I have used S&W for 12 years, and they are my favorite pair of cuffs. I have used Peerless also, but the way we taught to cuff, I can access S&W keyhole better. I purchased a pair of Peerless a year ago, and the hinge got bent and would not lock anymore. So I went back to Smith'sComment

I prefer Peerless chained or hinged for drug intoxicated suspects. I had a set of Peerless chained which a bad guy coming down from PCP broke (he also broke both wrists but didn't care).Cry Havoc.... and let slip the Dogs of War.

Just kidding. I hope these end up fine, but I am getting one more pair than I need. Plus I am getting 2 pairs of ASP cuffs (new in package) for 45 shipped, so whichever type I don't like I will sell. I hope one way or the other I will be happy.
