Go sig. It's my daily duty carry, and I love it. You'll pay a little more than you will for combat tupperware, which I own as well, but they are great guns with great triggers. You're going to be doing a lot of dry firing in the academy. Racking the slide a 1/2" on your glock every time you need to dry fire is a bummer, and the trigger isn't as nice IMHO. If you check the gun stores/Calgun FS posts in your area you can pick one up for a few bucks more than a glock. I want to say I paid 700 for my new P220R a while back, and a new glock 21 was around 450-500. It's all a matter of preference though. Go to a shop and feel them all. Some folks love the way glocks feel in their hand, some hate it. Whatever you do buy it ASAP and shoot the hell out of it before you go. Nothing worse than learning to shoot at the academy. You'll have enough stress as it is.

If you can afford it, I would suggest a Sig P226 in 9mm or .40. I have both the P226 in 9mm and P220 in .45, love them both. I shoot them better than my issued Beretta 92fs and HK USP 45.

I went to GWC for the academy. Who is commanding your class? Ames or Bright?

PM me for details and some inside tips. I live in HB as well.

Are you good with a broom??? Because you and your class will be sweeping the "grinder" every morning.
To compel a man to subsidize with his taxes the propagation of ideas which he disbelieves and abhors is sinful and tyrannical.

Ahhh........the old "grinder." We didn't sweep it, but I do recall standing at attention in our leather soled dress shoes every day during the summer when it was about 140 degrees. I don't miss those days at all.
