Question for LEO on Speeding ticket

Do not make the mistake of confusing pessimism with realism. Sometimes the straight-shooting no BS information from LEO's may appear harsh, but we're used to facing the cold hard facts of reality, and that is what you will receive from this sub-forum. Straight answers free from smoke, is what distinguishes us from other forums. This is why people bring their questions to the LEO forum. These answers do not come with a kiss and a hug, nor feel-good encouragement to try something, if in our experience, we believe that it will either waste you time, or hurt you in the long run. Anyway, a person who asks a question of anybody, bears the ultimate responsibilty for the answer(s) received. And yes, you are innocent until proven guilty. Even though it might not seem so to the uninitiated, we are trying to keep you from aiding the prosecution in proving you guilt.

i did go to the courthouse today in Simi Valley and i was told i have to go to the Ventura courthouse. my courtesy notice gave 2 locations to go and Simi Valley is closer since I live in OC.

i appreciate the honesty and responses but some i take are a little rude. that is the attitude i got from the CHP who pulled me over and i was nothing more than respectful and honest, and tired a little since it was late at nite.

i will still present my case as it is my right and it seems that is not the thing to do. if i lose oh well i'll go to traffic school. i did find out i can take it online. since Ventura is quite a drive from where i live.

i'm not thin skinned as some may say but again i'm innocent til proven guilty!

Chris, no one here is being rude, they are just advising you, based on their experience, the reality of what will probably occur in court.

As far as your statement about innocence; you pretty much admitted to us in the OP that you were speeding. It may not have been an intentional act on your part, due to the defective speedo, but you said nothing that would have intimated that you were not speeding, right.

We have explained what you need that might help your case, but we have also explained the reality of what the judge will probably do.

unless i'm given the option to go to traffic school. i hope i can take it online though.

I know that is the case in LA courts, and probably for many metropolitian courts. But the judges up here will allow traffic school even after the trial, and the defendant has been found guilty, and meets the necessary protocols. It's mostly up to the judge. It's not set in concrete.



I'm thinking that with the variables the OP has referred to, a TBD would be his best bet, especially with the travel distance.

the only reason i stated is due the officers attitude when he was speaking to me. it was unwarrented on his part and i was respectfull to him and he was not. i know his behavior is not the norm of all officers and you know as well as i do and others that this type of officer exists. and it should not be that way the situation should dictate the attitude at the stop IMO.

i did this in Iraq. one day i would nice and waving to children but that night if you F with my i will kill anyone that moves the wrong way. this in Iraq only.

that was something else i was thinking. i figured it would be up to the judge if i was to lose that i can take traffic school. i still have my options open as to what i want to do. the distance is quite far.

Take the drivers school (if first offense and they allow) it shows willingness to learn and be a better driver.

the last time i went to traffic school was in 2003. if memory serves you have to have 18 months or so to take it again. i have say i meet that criterea if i'm correct on the time between traffic school.
