I used to carry one for my Model 25-5 long Colt. Big six inch nickle N frame shooting 225 grain Silvertips.

Anybody remember the old Bianchi breakfront the Judge? Hd one of those too.

I remember a few officers at San Bernardino PD that carried that same Smith and ammo. Back then they carried whatever (handgun) they wanted to carry.

I still have a Hoyt for my M-66, 4". Still have the M-66 too. That M-66 has gotta be 26yrs old?? Maybe 30 yrs

Hey I had a 66 and a Hoyt for it too. I sold it to buy a wedding ring in 1984. In retrospect it was a good trade.

I still have a basketweave short drop swivel clamshell for a 6" Python. Bought it brand new from the Cake Davis Company in Berkeley way back when thinking it was the coolest holster. Realized quickly that it wasn't very safe, threw it in the big bucket o' leather and started using Hoyt. Still have a few Hoyts that are left over from back in the day or that I've collected over the years.

Used the clamshell off an on over the years solely on the range for screwing around with fast draw and demonstrations about what not to use as a duty holster, a six inch S&W fits it although loosely. The spring on it broke at some point and I've never even thought about getting it fixed.

One of the guys in my squad at the academy was Berkeley PD and had a high ride clamshell with a safety strap that had been attached to it. That was an interesting rig.

Used a Hoyt hi-rise and then a hi-rise jacket model for my 6" Python through the '70s & '80s; great holster. Went to a H&K P7M13 when autos were authorized.

I carried a 4" 686 in a Hoyt from 84-91. Loved it!! We had a goofy officer who carried a Beretta in a clam shell. Definitely an an anachronism!
