    DUI X2 Same Night

A Lincoln, Nebraska woman was arrested twice in the same night for DUI by the same officer.

Officer Katie Flood said Claudia Bustamante was pulled over at 1:13 am Wednesday after she made an illegal turn at 48th and Highway 2 and began swerving down the street.

Flood said Officer John Hudec stopped her and noticed a number of signs that she was driving intoxicated during the field sobriety test. When he took her to detox her blood alcohol level was .19, more than twice the legal limit. At that time she was cited for DUI and negligent driving.

At 3:09 am Flood said Officer Hudec saw another car driving down the center lane on 40th street near Pioneers. When he pulled the vehicle over he realized it was Bustamante.

Flood said her boyfriend had picked her up from detox, but had taken her back to her car instead of home. She was driving his car at the time of the second DUI.

This time Flood said Bustamante was arrested for DUI and negligent driving and taken to jail where she still had a BAC of .154.

Flood said it is not unusual to arrest the same person for DUI, but it is very rare to arrest the same person in the same night.

Perhaps it should have been a mandated impound on the vehicle and a few hour stay in the jail till she sobers up.

how could she bond out of jail in less than 2hrs?

probaly more like less than 1 hour. Since it was 0113 when they first stopped her. Imagine paperwork and processing and then bailing out and back on the road.

And why did they not impound the veh.

I find this hard to believe.. Could you imagine the liability for an agency releasing an intoxicated person on a cite? I don't know how they do it over there but it's a MANDATORY 4-6 hours in the drunk tank for a DUI while they sober up here in CA.. What's the source of the story, and does anyone have any input on Nebraska law?

            hahah crazy.

when i was a teenager i got two MIPs in one hour.

Granted it was Santa Barbara on Halloween and there was only about a MILLION cops around.

Luckily the nice lady judge merged the charges into one. And i got to take a cool class at my local police station where they showed us pictures of motorists who got into car accidents.

              DUI's

I know a married couple where the wife got a speeding ticket in the morning. Then the husband got one later that morning. Then the wife got another one in the afternoon. Both in seperate cars, but by the same PD (different officers)!

I've seen it happen. With T/C's too. Closest story I can pass on is once I was giving a lady a seatbelt ticket in a residential area. I was on a grant funded OT assignment for seatbelt enforcement. Quanity is the goal here. Her husband comes around the corner, and observes the traffic stop. I notice that he is not wearing a seat belt. He slams to a halt, stops in the middle of the road, storms out of his car demanding to know why I was giving his wife a ticket. I explained for the same reason that I'm going to be giving you one. For not wearing a seatbelt. I thought his head was going to lift off his shoulders like a rocket. My boss loved it, I got an atta boy for holding my ground.

Damn and I thought my mother in laws 2 in a week was bad.
Lord, make my hand fast and accurate.
Let my aim be true and my hand faster
than those who would seek to destroy me.
Grant me victory over my foes and those who wish to do harm to me and mine.
Let not my last thought be 'If I only had my gun."
And Lord, if today is truly the day you call me home, let me die in an empty pile of brass.

I worked with a Sgt. who gave 4 DUI tickets to 4 different people for driving one car. They would drive a few hundred feet, pull over and someone else would get behind the wheel. They were trying to figure out who was least drunk. If I recall correctly, it was a site and release for each and impounded the car. They were all roommates.

If she had crashed into another car and killed someone... the victim of the family would be very very rich. Releasing drunks is a huge liability.

My EX-SIL destroyed both of her family's vehicles in one day, a few hours a part.

Haven't heard from her since she went to state prison a few years back. Gotta say it's been nice...
