Corp security for hotels, resorts, casinos and such. A friend of mine was retired Honolulu PD Homicide. Worked for the Kona Kai resort in San Diego.

Had to come up with an emergency response plan involving three naval bases within a mile, millions of gallons of POF stored uphill and "special" weapons across the way.

With some types of work restrictions you might want to think about getting back into sales because most companies are less concerned about your work restrictions if you're closing deal$.

The other thing that occurs to me is that if you think that the economy might get worse then looking into businesses that do well in bad economies, like security and alarm system sales, might provide continued opportunities even if things get much much worse.

Years ago I knew a few burglar and fire (commercial and residential) salesmen that did pretty well for themselves working for smaller but well respected companies.

Those are just some ideas off the top of my head and I hope you're back at work real soon.

NCMEC is always looking for investigators. You do have to travel-but they will cover those costs.

Come work for the state as a special investigator. Some state agencies give you a take home car and have work from home. No real LEO physical since no gun or arrest powers. Put 5 years in and your vested with calpers. All while receiving your medical retirement. Just have to search Calhr for agencies looking for special investigators.

First, are you a CalPERS or county retiree? If you?re a CalPERS retiree, start looking at county jobs. If you?re a county retiree, you have more CalPERS based jobs to look at.

If you are a CalPERS retiree, LA City just opened up for Traffic Officer.

I'd avoid working for the state/local in California all together. You can easily pick up executive protection jobs, residential security, and investigator gigs within the private sector all day that pays you more than CA gov will.

I’m not LEO but have a friend that is. He retired from the county about 6 months ago.

He accompanied a truck with valuable goods to its destination. Paid really well. Him and another guy. He did 3-4 trips and then stopped. One guy would drive, the other would sleep. Got the job from a retired sheriff who started the business.

Now he works part time for the county (office job) but can’t work more than a 1000 hours a year.

Maybe check in with other retired LE to see what they are doing.

Neighbor is retired LE and works every day - gardening and outside projects. Keeps him active and healthy.

                Good luck.

I retired from CHP in 2020. I?m now working at a federal courthouse as a court security officer. It?s a great job and good pay. If your near a federal courthouse and this sounds cool, send me a message.

Like I said above, now start looking at non-CalPERS jobs at counties and some cities, depending on your location.

Counties- Sac, Orange, LA, San Diego, Kern, Alameda, SF, Fresno, etc.
Cities- LA, San Diego, San Jose, Fresno.

Can also go out of state like AZ, NV. Arizona is so low pay die to being a Right to Work state.

Bad advice. Since hes CalPERS, he should look at a independent PERS city or county job, work 5 years and then get a second pension.

I?d second the federal court security gig. If that doesn?t appeal to you find a company that does backgrounds. A lot of agencies (federal, state and local) contract out their backgrounds.
