    CO Questions corrections officer

I want to be a CO, I'v done everything up to the poly but I cant pass I truly have nothing to hide or lie about, it just gets my heart pumping and I cant sit still through it. So my question is there any way to take another test. I;;v seen in movies they have meds that they can give you or shots? but Like I said its in movies (so its must likely fake) or a way to go around it? or maybe not all countys need the poly?

    Riverside county.

Is it a myth that you have to be a big badass man to be a CO?

Its not a myth! We are all big bad *** dudes! When we are not woopin on inmates we are pumpin iron and injecting ourselves with steroids and eating raw meat! Every inmate in prison knows he is just a gnats butt away from a serious but woopin.

Seriously being a bad *** is the last thing you want to be if you work in a prison. I remember 15 years ago my best partner was an elderly guy who couldn't fight his way out of a wet paper bag. COMMUNICATION is what it is all about. If your a good communicator, fair and consistent you have the tools to become a C/O.

Most Calif LEO agencies will require a polygraph.

It's a bad idea to try and "fool" a polygraph examiner by taking drugs, or through any other means. You would be immediately kicked out of the office and fail the hiring process. You would in all likelihood hood taint yourself from any future LEO job trying to pull a stunt like that.

The test is there for a reason. Many people who lie or have things to hide will never confess their guilt. The polygraph catches them.

                They should not be LEO's

If you truly have not committed any questionable acts, then I'm sorry. Something is causing you to fail. Usually the polygraph examiner will review the test with you. I'm sure he told you what the area which was causing your failure.

Maybe you should be a fireman. No poly for them.

There is no polygraph to get into CDCR right now. They used to do it but they stoped about 10 years ago.

Yup, true enough. I'm 5'9"/160lbs. Inmates are'nt totally stupid, always eyes on you. If you are'nt consistant in your behavior, they pick up on it QUICK. I had a new partner a few years ago, fresh out of academy, lookin to pop his cherry. Young, no military, thought he was gonna "get his"- until the riot actually happened. He pissed himself, then quit. Just be yourself, and be aware, you would do fine.

Apply federally, the bureau of prisons does not require a poly

So, you take the poly and don't pass? Or are you afraid you won't pass?
