    Retirees: LEOSA/HR218 Insurance advice

After almost 27 years at LASD I'm joining the retired ranks this December. I'm looking for insurance recommendations just in case I end up using a firearm in self-defense. Without the department coverage, it would be foolish not to have protection, especially in these times. You're thoughts? Thanks in advance.

I’ve heard CCW safe is excellent. They don’t have a “recoupment clause” which several other companies do. If they have a recoupment clause, avoid it like the plague and find somebody else.

I’m not sure if PORAC RAM has that or not.

                  FOP is also recommended.

                      Another vote for PORAC-RAM coverage.
You will never, in your life, have a chance like this again.
If I were you, I would not pass this up. I would not let this go by...this is rare.

Plus one more for PORAC RAM. Have had it for 18 years.

I just applied for PORAC/RAM after being retired for 13 years. Is it me or the web site a little awkward to navigate?

It is a little awkward. Basically, you have to sign up as it is a two part. In my dealing with PORAC the staff has always been very helpful. Of course it could just be you. :-)

I have a policy thru Texas Law Shield. Very reasonably priced with good coverage.
