SF Resturant Refused to Serve Officers

The owners of San Francisco restaurant Hilda and Jesse, are now apologizing after denying service to three uniformed police officers who were on-duty.

"It's not about the fact that we are anti-police," co-owner of Hilda and Jesse, Rachel Sillcocks said. "It is about the fact that we do not allow weapons in our restaurant. We were uncomfortable, and we asked them to leave. It has nothing to do that they were officers. It has everything to do that they were carrying guns."

    Unarmed Officers welcome?

The owners issued a poorly worded apology yesterday calling the whole incident a teachable moment. It might also have to do with the one star reviews on Yelp from community members letting them know their woke stupidity will get them no business and so they issued the fake apology.

It's sad to see this is the way things are now. Not that they're anti-police which by itself is all too common, but that just seeing a gun makes them so uncomfortable.

I had a student yesterday who seriously asked why police carry guns. This from a student who wanted to learn how to defend herself.

when the restaurant gets robbed, let's see if SFPD shows up with pitch forks and water guns.

yelp disabled review for the restaurant. don't you love how yelp censors reviews? SMH...

I've often wondered why uniformed officers continue to patronize restaurants in this day and age. There is so much anti LE sentiment they never know if they are gonna be asked to leave or find foreign matter in their food/drinks.

I believe in voting with my wallet and will gladly patronize pro LE and pro 2A businesses. Fortunately there are a good number of restaurants in my area that are openly supportive of Law Enforcement, Military and pro 2A.

I believe some order at places where they can see their food made (Togos, Chipotle, Pizza Press) etc.

After their initial sorry-not-sorry statement, they have come out now with a mea-culpa

This is not entirely unexpected or new. The one that happened in Sisters Oregon back in July was truly disgusting, when the local McDonalds would not serve a wildland fire crew that was working a big fire in the area. They had literally just spent the last couple days keeping the fire away from the town only to be turned away from a fast food joint. Sometimes you just have to ask people what the F is wrong with you?

I remember some restaurants welcomed us when I was on patrol in 90s.

I own a sandwich shop in Taft. Small town by Bakersfield. My business partner and I wear Back the Blue shirts daily. Also give LEO'S free food. Can't support them enough!

That's very nice and generous of you. I, honestly, sometimes avoid going to places that don't/won't charge me for my food. I'm more than glad to pay for my food (and other services) and I WANT to support those places that support me. I'm happy to pay my fair share just to be able to eat someplace where I feel welcome. If the bill is "light," I usually just leave the difference on the table.

I respect a business owner's right to not charge LEO's, but I also hope they will respect my right to financially support the businesses I want to see stick around for a long time.
