What is your department and What do you carry?

I'm very interested in LEO carry weapons. I always want to ask, but am not sure the response I'd get, LEO's about what they are carrying when I see them in public.

    So...
    What is your department/title?
    What is your Duty Weapon?
    How do you like it?
What is your favorite from your personal collection?
    Can I touch it?

DA/SA is so smooth. Have a 239 with the same trigger, the reset is the best part!

Short and Crisp? Ever shoot a Beretta? I'm looking for something to compare it to.

I carry P220 with short reset trigger. I like it. I also have a shorter trigger on my P226. I also like it.

                  Sig P226 9mm first 14 years and Sig P226 .40 s&w last 2 years before retirement.

When I was in a gun battle with a gang member they took my gun and tested it to make sure I did not make any changes to it. Everything had to be within factory specs. they even checked the trigger pull in D/A and S/A. They also took all my ammo that was left in my mag and checked it. They did give me a replacement gun while they were testing it. It took over eight weeks to get it back. SOP

For you guys that use the 9mm.......
I loved my Sigs but please don't put too much faith in the 9mm round. I hit the suspect right in the 10 ring with my first shot (147 grain SS). It should have stopped the suspect cold but failed to do so. It bounced off his sternum came out his side and shattered a glass window he was in front of. We hit the Suspect a total of 7 times before we were able to stop him. After being hit he was still able to pull the trigger twice on his gun before our rounds took him down.

If you have a 9mm be very carful of the round you are using making sure it will do the job required. The whole time I was shooting the suspect I kept thinking to myself that I know I am hitting him why isn't he going down? Why is he still shooting back. Him and I was face to face within 10 feet. No time for cover no time to do anything but point and shoot. The suspect was 5' 4" over 300#.

And to think I did this job for free for almost 16 years... But I did love it. You guys be carful out there.

One more thing this happened many many years ago so it is safe to talk about but I also did not say my Agency just to be sure.

5'4" and 300+? Maybe you should carry a harpoon gun. At the very least a 12 gauge slug.

Sure the bigger the round,,maybe better it perfoms. As a person working at a crime lab, I see all kinds of bullets recovered from autopsy. Most common? 22LR, 38 SPL LRN, 9mm FMJ. I see a lot of one shot kills with 22LR also.

I have seen JHP duty bullets plugged up at the cavity and essentially becomes a JHP. No matter what the caliber is used, the location of shots are most important.

Just because on has the best performing bullet doesn't mean the target will go down with one shot. That is why follow up/ target coverage is very important after you shoot.

Yep it just shows you that you never know what you are going to come up agianst. I would have had my Shotgun that night but I was driving a Supervisor car and there was no shotgun racks in the Super cars. But you know SH... My partner and I wen't home at the end of our shift, we saved the people in the restaurant so thats all that really counts.
